Jack Heekin & Tom O’Brian, Cincinnati natives and childhood friends, started with a simple goal in mind. Create an organization which generates enthusiasm for the rich history and cultural resurgence alive in downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. At 24 years old, they acted on this goal by bringing a concept originating in Belgium and Germany to Cincinnati; a 15-person, pedal powered, rolling party. They coined their take on the concept “Pedal Wagon”.
With the Pedal Wagon comes an opportunity to open the eyes of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky’s surrounding communities to the urban renewal going on in their own back yard, and to break the popular notions held about downtown. Hand-in-hand with business and community leaders in OTR, Fountain Square, the Banks, Newport, and Covington, they are working to contribute to the restoration of Cincinnati’s history and culture already well underway.
After a year of operation in Cincinnati, Jack and Tom, a recent Ohio State graduate, saw a great opportunity to expand to the Columbus market. Working with leaders in the Short North, German Village, and Arena District, they hope to contribute to the growth of urban Columbus.
